Show FUNERAL SERVICE HELD SATURDAY FOR MRS. CLARA BATE Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Saturday in the Second ward chapel for Mrs. Clara Melissa C. Bate, 89, who died in a Salt Lake City hospital Wednesday. Claude A. Smith of the ward bishopric, was in charge. Mrs. Bate died as result of injuries in-juries which she suffered in a fall at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Cora Piper, Salt Lake City, where she had been making her home for the past six years. Born in Provo, October 23, 1858, she was a daughter of Dominicus and Carolina Carter. She was married mar-ried to Joseph Bate in Salt Lake City December 23, 1876, and she had made her home in Springville Spring-ville throughout her married life. Mr. Bate died in October 1918. Survivors include five sons and daughters: J. M. Bate and Mrs. Melba Pennington, Springville; Ralph Bate, Spanish Fork; Leslie J. Bate, Burley, Ida.; Mrs. Cora Piper, Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren grand-children and 11 great grandchildren. |
