Show SERVICES SET FRIDAY FOR LOREN HARMER Loren Elias Harmer, 65, Maple-ton Maple-ton farmer, prominent in civic and church affairs, died Tuesday evening eve-ning following a long illness. He was born in Springville, February Feb-ruary 1, 1877, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hannibal Harmer, early pioneers. pio-neers. As a youth he worked with his father on the family farm at Springville. He married Sylvia Eleanor Houtz on October 28, 1897, and soon after moved to Mapleton, where he had lived since. His first wife died on December 26, 1920, and on May 26, 1927, he married Henrietta Hales Johnson. Mr. Harmer served as first counselor to Bishop Lorin A. Niel-son Niel-son from 1920 to 1924. In 1930 he was appointed chairman of the Kolob stake genealogical committee, commit-tee, and in 1931 was set apart as a high councilman. He held both positions at the time of his death. He was elected a member of the Mapleton town board for several sev-eral terms and has served as a member of the Mapleton Irrigation company continuously for the past 23 years. He had also represented the Mapleton Irrigation company as a member of the board for the Strawberry Water Users association. associa-tion. He was an active member of the Republican party, acting as Mapleton precinct chairman for six years. He is survived by his widow and six sons and daughters: Willis E. Harmer, Mrs. Alga E. Mackley, Mrs. Cora Ellis and Dora Harmer of Mapleton; Glen W. Harmer of Los Angeles, Calif.; Louis J. Harmer of Provo. Also 11 grandchildren grand-children and two great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters: A. Leo Harmer of Mapleton, Mrs. Bertha Weight of Provo; Roy H. Harmer of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Florence Frandsen of Provo, Mrs. Edna Robertson of Los Angeles. Funeral services will be conducted conduct-ed Friday at 2 p. m. in the Mapleton Maple-ton ward chapel. Friends may call at the A. Y. Wheeler & Son mortuary Thursday Thurs-day evening, and at the residence on the state highway on the south limits of Mapleton, before the services. ser-vices.
