Show Patriarch Dies ... J. H. Manwaring Funeral Services Today 2 p.m. For John H. Manwaring Funeral services will be conducted conduc-ted today (Thursday) at 2 p.m., in the Fifth-First ward chapel for John H. Manwaring', 84, who died early Monday morning at his home of ailments incident to age. Friends may call at the family residence 488 South 4th East Wednesday Wed-nesday from 6 to 9 p.m., and Thursday prior to the services. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery, under direction of Clau-din Clau-din Funeral Home. Mr. Manwaring, patriarch of Kolob LDS stake, was born on May 18, 1886, at Sandbach, Cheshire, Ches-hire, England, a son of Henry and Sarah Barber Manwaring. At the age of 4 years, he came to the United States with his parents. par-ents. On February 26, 1890, he married Annie Peterson in the Logan Lo-gan LDS temple. She died in 1921. An active church worker all his life, Mr. Manwaring served on a mission to the Southern States in 1890 and was later bishop of the Springville First ward 28 years. For the past 14 years, he had served ser-ved as patriarch of the stake. For approximately 30 years', he was sexton of the city cemetery. Surviving are six sons and daughters: Zenos, Wilford and Maurice Manwaring; Mrs. Helen Ashcraft and Miss Maurine Manwaring Man-waring all of Springville; Mrs. Zora Hill of Salt Lake City; also 11 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother, Talbert M. Manwaring of Ogden. |
