Show SERVICES HELD FOR ATTORNEY MILAN R. STRAW Largely attended services were conducted in the Fourth Ward chapel Tuesdaj' afternoon, for Milan R. Straw, prominent at-! at-! torney, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home here Friday. The- services were In charge of Bishop William Witney of the Third ward. The speakers, each of whom paid fine tributes to the character char-acter and life of Mr. Straw, were Judge A. H. Christensen of Pro-vo; Pro-vo; C. G. Salisbury of Kolob stake presidency and Stanley Dunford. The latter represented the Utah Coun ty Bar association associa-tion of which Mr. Straw was a member, with resolutions of respect. re-spect. A request poem was also read by Bishop Witney. Music consisted of vocal solos, by Mrs. Lillian Young of Provo and organ numbers by Howard Kearns. Peter Nielson, former bishop of the Third ward, gave the invocation and Maurice Harding, Hard-ing, Provo attorney, gave the benediction. M. W. Bird dedicated the grave at the Evergreen cemetery. ceme-tery. Mr. Straw was born in Springville, Spring-ville, December 15, 1887, a son of James and Sarah Whitehead Straw. He had made his home , here always. He received his edu- j cation in the Springville schools and later attended the Brigham Young university and the Uni-1 versity of Utah, graduating in , law from the latter school. He practiced law in Springville during his early career and served ser-ved as city attorney for several years. He was a member of the Utah County and State Bar association. asso-ciation. He was a member of the Springville high school art board for a number of -years and had1 been interested in the art project proj-ect here since its beginning. He was a member of the local Kiwanis Ki-wanis club. He was at one time chairman of the local Republican party and also had served as Utah county attorney. He had been associated with the Christensen, Chris-tensen, Straw and Christensen law firm in Provo since 1929. He married Ada Brennen September Sep-tember 27,- 1915 in Springville. Surviving, besides his widow ' are one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Miller, Great Falls, Mont; his parents of Springville, and three sisters and a brother; Mrs. Hilda Koffman, Provo; Mrs. Mabel George and Mrs. Muriel Parks, Los Angeles, Calif; Lee H. Straw, Ogden. |
