Show MAN DIES WHEN CAR HITS TRAIN SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 14 (HE) Frederick William Ball-staedt, Ball-staedt, 35, of Buena Vista, west of Salt Lake City, was killed today when his automobile was struck broadside by the Union Pacific Los Angeles Limited passenger pas-senger train. The accident occurred . a few minutes after Ballstaedt had left his home for work. The car was struck within hearing distance of his home. Deputy Sheriff J. E. Scheib, who investigated, said that Ball-staedt's Ball-staedt's body was thrown out of the car by the impact, but was badly mangled. The car was pushed push-ed nearly 2000 feet down the tracks before the train could be stopped. Engineer C. O. Sportsman saic that the locomotive headlight was working properly, and that h( had blown the whistle as hi approached the crossing. I - |
