Show ; Holiday Monday Memorial services sei by veterans ; at local cemeteries American Legion Post No. 28, and VFW will combine to hold Memorial Day services r honoring departed veterans who served during any war, commanders announce. an-nounce. The services will begin at 10 a.m. at the City cemetery where' the Legion Auxiliary will place a wreath of poppies at the base of the flag-pole. The Springville Junior High School band will play the "Star Spangled Banner," following the raising of the flag. A military salute and taps will be heard, and the flag will be left at half mast during the day. Immediately following the ceremony at the City cemetery, the band and veterans participating, partici-pating, will proceed to the Evergreen cemetery where a similar ceremony will be held. Monday will be a holiday for most places in Spring- ville. A majority of business houses including Brookside Market will be closed; also the bank and the postoffice. The Monday, garbage collection col-lection will be postponed until un-til Tuesday. Veteran's who served during any war and whose graves are at either of the two cemeteries will have American flags placed at their grave. Commander Keith Davis of the American Legion asks all Legionaires and VFW members mem-bers to meet at Memorial Hall at 9 a.m. to participate in the ceremonies. |
