Show MRS. N. J. DEAL CELEBRATES 88th BIRTHDAY In celebration of her eighty-eighth eighty-eighth birthday anniversary, which occurred yesterday, Mrs. Nancy J. Deal, widow of Daniel Edgar Deal, one of the oldest residents of Springville, was honored guest at a family dinner Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Argyle, and family of Mercur. Daughter of J. W. and Evelyn Brown Clark, Mrs. Deal was born August 11, 1853, near Chimney Rock, on the Platte River, on the plains of Nebraska. Her parents were on their way from Texas to make their home in Utah. She and a twin brother, Hyrum, were the (Continued on page eight) Mrs. Deal Celebrates 88th Anniversary (Continued from page one) youngest members of their company com-pany which arrived in Grantsville that year. Sent by Brigham Young, the family moved to Washington in Washington county, and Mrs. Deal lived there until her marriage in 1872. In 1878 she came to Springville with her husband and family, following fol-lowing two three-year periods spent in Arizona and New Mexico. In Springville, her husband was engaged in farming, freighting, contracting, and commercial work until his death about 30 years ago. She has always been active in church auxiliary organization work and is skilled in sewing and handiwork. handi-work. She is the mother of ten sons and daughters, the following of whom are living: Mrs. J. B. Bedford, Rupert, Ru-pert, Idaho; Mrs. Henry Wood and Mrs. Charles Boyer, Springville; Mrs. Ben Argyle, Mercur; and Mrs. W. R. Finch of Los Angeles. She alsol has 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. |
