Show WALLIS GIVES ILLUSTRATED HEALTH TALKS Executive Secretary of Utah Public Health Association in Utah County. The largest gatherings which hnve so far attended the illustrated health lectures being Riven in the state by James H. Wallis, executive secretary of the Utah Public Health association were those which assembled assem-bled last wek in Springville, Spanish Span-ish Fori;, Pnyson1 and Eureka. Afternoon and evening lectures were given in each place to accommodate accom-modate the crowds and it is estimated esti-mated that fully four thousand people were in attendance. The subjects bandied by Mr. Wallis were of an educational nature na-ture and dealth with "How Disease is Spread," "The Scourge of Tuberculosis," "Overhauling the Human Machine," "Scout Work and Health Work," and "The Fly as a Disease Carrier." In each place visited the school and church officials and newspapers news-papers co-operated in making the meetings a success. While the owners own-ers of the picture theaters generously generous-ly donated the use of their houses, including light, fuel, janitors and operators. Those who have had thei opportunity oppor-tunity of seiiig the health films carried car-ried by Mr. Wallis pronounce them as simply marvelous and say they cannot help but result in awakening the people to a realization of the value of sound health. Especially is this so with regard to the picture pic-ture emphasizing the value of periodical per-iodical health examinations. . The purchase and showing of these health pictures has been mode possible from the sale of Christmas seals last December. It is the intention in-tention to exhibit them in every county in the state and Mr. Wallis is planning to leave next week on an extended tour of southern Utah. He left Provo for Salt Lake City Friday night to make arrangements to this end. While in Utah county Mr. Wallis visited many of the schools and gave health talks to the pupils. |
