Show il SPRINGVILLE SOCIETY! The Service Star Legion met at the home of Julia Packard, February Febru-ary 26. The following program was enjoyed by those present : Cornet Cor-net solo, Enrl Roylance; violin solo, Lynn Williams; "A History of the Constitution," Don Johnson ; piano solo, Howard Kearns. Dainty refreshments were served after the meeting adjourned. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Clyde spent Sunday in Spauish Fork, the' guest of friends. Miss Dora Coffman spent a part of last week at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson entertained at "500" one evening this week for Mr. and Mrs. Manford Hutchinson and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fiuley. Mrs. Will Brown entertained the members of the S. T. club at her home Wednesday evening of last week. Bridge was the main diversion diver-sion of the evening with Mrs. George Crandall winning high score. Mr.' and Mrs. W. A. McCullough of Provo were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fiuley, Sunday. Miss Mnrjorie Parker, who is attending at-tending school in Salt Lake, was a week-end visitor at her home here. Miss Elva Dyet of Soldier Summit Sum-mit was the guest of Miss Bessie Wonnacott a part of last wek. Mrs. Robert Rogers and two children, of Garland, are visiting with Mrs. Rogers' mother, Mrs. W. J. Groesbeck. Mrs. Rogers and children will leave for Bellingham, Wash., in a few days. Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Cellventra and family spent Tuesday in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis , Brahmley are the proud parents of a ten-pound baby boy, born Wednesday evening of last week. Mrs. Arch Wortben of Roosevelt is visiting with relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Wyman Benson, who have spent the winter in Boise, Idaho, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Wortben. Mrs. Roy Wightman entertained at bridge Saturday evening. The rooms were tastily decorated with flowers. Dainty refreshments were served. Members of the First ward enjoyed en-joyed an exceptionally good meeting last Sunday evening. The meeting was given under the direction of the M. I. A. and was furnished by the public service bureau of the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university. Prof. H. R. Merrill spoke on "Reminiscences of Ireland." Miss Lisette Dean, accompanied accom-panied by Thera Lou Olsen, sang "Cares of Yesterdoy." Miss Libbie Cook read "The Lost Word." "An Irish Love Song" was sung by Lisette Dean. Members of the Beehive class under the supervision of Miss Vercna Graham of the Second ward enjoyed n party in the basement of the church after Mutual Tuesday cveuing. Mrs. A. O. Packard entertained at a birthday dinner party Thursday evening in honor of her daughter. Virginia. A surprise party was given in honor of Mrs. Mary Ostler at her home Tuesday evening. Games and a musical program were the features fea-tures of the evening's entertainment. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Ostler, Mrs. Chester Jenkins, Mrs. J. R. Dowdell, Mr. and .Mrs. Sam Dallin, Mr. and Mrs. Parley Madsen, Mr. and Mrs. Chnuncey Van Patten and Horace Gammell. Did you notice the beautiful artistic artis-tic decorated windows at the J. C. Penney company of the ready-to-wear spring coats and dresses? Miss festa Anderson, Miss Helen ('lark, Miss lone Palfreyman, Miss Anna Starr, attended the A. A. S. banquet at the B. Y. U. given at the Hotel Roberts. The Wednesday Afternoon club was entertained at the home of S. L. Mendenhall by Mrs. 'Cornell Meu-denhnll Meu-denhnll and Mrs. Blanch Condie. The tTah stake M. I. A. hoard entertained en-tertained for Miss Floss Harmer and Mrs. Blanche Condie. Miss Harmer was presented with a book and Msr. Condie with a quilt. Miss Bertha Lewis of Spanish Fork Is visiting with Mrs. II. B. Gardner for a few days. Mr. and rMs. A. O. Thorn and Mr. arid Mrs. J. W. Whiting were business busi-ness visitors at Salt Lake City this week. 'Miss Birdclla Reynolds spent the week-end in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Clair Jones spent the weekend week-end with Mrs. Blanche Mendenhall. Miss Rheta Roylance has returned return-ed from Salt Lake City, where she has been for the past month. Mrs. Austin Roylance has just returned re-turned home after visiting in Salt Lake and Lehi. Baby boys have been born recently recent-ly to the following couples; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mason. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lowe, and a baby girl arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Miner. Mrs. Mary Finley was hostess to the Home Culture club members at her home Friday of last week. News has been received from Canada Can-ada that Mrs. Edda Brandley of Canada has a baby hoy. Mrs. Brand-ley Brand-ley was formerly Miss Edda Anderson Ander-son of this city, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Anderson. |
