Show Letter From Alma Beck. Married a Bad Acter. One VHr.... PAYAHr-K- iM IN ADVANt'K , Maxbate, Masbate, P. I., . March 25, 1909. Editor of The Press. Dear Mr. Jensen :The Philippine Islands are the only place to spend the winter. No quarreling about who is to get coal when that car comes, neither do you have to quarrel about who is to get up in the zero air to start a fire. During the nine months I have been here, it hasn't been warmer than 85 degrees nor colder than 65 degrees. Those areexceptional cases. Generally the temperature ranges from 73 to 76 degrees, so it can be seen that we suffer from neither heat nor cold. ' The people here are certainly the children of nature. Their food comes comes natural and clothing is not absolutely necessary. How can any one blame these people for not being money crazy? They are more happy than those who have that "head trouble," which is only natural. Our schools close on the third of April and they begin again about June 8th. This year I wiil have about nineteen to be graduates and about eighty-thre- e established all Schools are promoted. over the Philippines and the people are taking a great interest in education. Judd has recieved word from the sheriff at Kansas City to the effect that Jack Nate Monroe.alais A.C. Lewis, has been arrested for high way robbery and asks for information regarding his former reputation. Monroe, under the name of Lewis, married Lena Einerson of Spanish Fork last fall and after living with her a few days deserted her. Lewis was in the picture business and Is said to have embezzled a sum of money from his firm. He is also wanted at Missoula, Montana, for grand larceny. It has been reported that the accused had a wife when he married the young lady from Spanish Fork. In case the officers are convinced that he was guilty of bigamy it is understood that they will ask for his return to this state where he will be prosecuted on that charge. The Kansas City officers think they have a good case against him and will prosecute him of holding up a street car conductor and relieving him of his money. A photograph of the accused has been forwarded to the sheriff who will ask the Einerson lady to identify it if it be the likeness of her deserted husband. Enquirer.
