Goshen as announced in these columns two weeks ago and P K Heuring has resigned from the R G system entirely When it was rumored rum-ored that Mr Forney was to leave this place a farewell party was huriedly gotten got-ten up in his honor at the home of Mrs Hilma Hales where he is boarding and as an evidence of the popularity of the young man with our young people a farewell party was given the same evening at the home of Miss Geneva Bradford also in his honor It was a great task for Mr Forney to be at both places at the same time but he was there just the same Our CemeterySome of Its Needs We are pleased to note the interest that is being taken by our citizens in responding to the invitation of the com millet on cemetery to place head boards nt the graves of their departed ones There has not been sufficient interest taken in the past in this matter the result being that the location of many of the graves is entirely lost and many more are in such n condition that impossible to know who lies burned there The records until quite recently have been very imperfectly kept and only extend back to the year 1866 Its It-s not the desire of anyone to impose a burden upon the people The principal expense is n little time devoted to Improving im-proving our lots and beautifing the same A small board placed at the head of a grave will greatly improve the present conditions and at the cost of only a few cents so that if there are any too poor to supply more expensive head boards or stones it will at least indicate that some human being lies buried there We trust that those who have not yet awakened to the necessity of this Improvement im-provement will do so at once so that when strangers visit our cemetery we will not be ashamed of its appearance ami condition A local poet has dropped the follow ng local pome in our copy box nt the drug stout during the past week and signed it Contractor It is well I put > together and worthy the touch of printers ink A trip is always evening of Feb 7 1908 for the citizens of Spanish Fork to decide whether or not n new school house should bo erected It was soon shown that owing to the over crowded conditions existing in the school room that n new building was sorely needed After some discussion a motion wns put before the people that we build n four roomed house in the western part of town then an amendment to the motion that we build an eight roomed house without regard to location whatever what-ever The amendment carried by a large majority thereby defeating the motion We see by a Salt Lake paper that a location was decided upon to be in the western part of town which was wholly untrue That the clerk either through i ignorance or design missrcprescnted the will of the people I am not so particular partic-ular as to the location but will support It with the majority Parley S Darger Bids Wanted Sealed bids to perform the duties of watcrmaster for the Spanish Fork East Bench Irrigation and Manufacturing
