As part of their scientific research, fourth graders had an "eggs-citing" science experiment, which included dropping eggs from the top of their school building. The students constructed special containers, hoping their egg would not break when dropped from the building. More than a dozen eggs survived the drop. SOMETHING FISHY: Students in Sharlee Kuhni's second grade class at Canyon Elementary have been learning about the continent of Asia. They learned that many years ago fishermen in Japan would record their catch by inking the fish and pressing paper onto the fish. They would get paid by showing this record of what they had caught that day. The second grade students "caught" some trout at Maceys and made their own Japanese fish prints. East Meadows Courtesy photos MAP QUEST: Fourth-grade students at Canyon Elementary have been studying the physical features of Utah. Students were given a project assignment to create their own map of Utah, showing the mountain ranges, lakes, rivers, etc. They had a Map Walk as a culminating activity, where each student's map was on display. Parents and students walked through the fourth-grade classes observing all of the maps. Pictured are students from Miss Jerri Hansen's fourth grade, from left to right, Quincy Millett, Spencer McConnell, Sydney Choate, Sofie Czarnecki and Jacob Lane. They held a short program, and then students invited their guests back to the classroom to share some of their work. Thanks to all of the grandparents who supported our students, and the teachers and students for making it passible. Pictured are Bert and LaRee Liddiard with their grandson Carson Bakker.
