Show B2 • WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 2009 Sentinel Guardian of Your Community News Flag Retirement Ceremony Monday evening, July 20, 2009, crowds gathered in the grandstands of the rodeo arena. Along with them they brought many American flags ready for a proper retirement. The 1 lth annual Flag Retirement Ceremony featured keynote speaker Captain Keir SGoubes, the retirement of the Maceys 50x30 foot flag, an Apache Helicopter fly-over, a 21gun salute, the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. The National Guard properly retired the flags over a bonfire with the assistance of local Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops as well as the American Legion. Along with the retirement, a National Guardsman played "Taps."
