Show SPANISH FORK 4 - MARCH 2009 District Awards Namon Bills / Spanish Fork News Annaleise Smith Bob Walsh Curtis Dye David Orton SUB-DISTRICT: District Staff Robert (Bob) Walsh, Order of the Arrow. Where to start with Bob? Bob is an unabashed Democrat. Bob is an educator. Bob is quick willed. There are many single line statements that could be made about Bob but none would capture the exuberance, dedication, knowledge and kindness that are embodied in Bob. Bob's willingness to be an advisor for the OA with more than 500 units to draw from is staggering. His willingness to take time to serve with the youth time and time again is an example to us all. Whether it is on weekends manning the concessions at BYU games, serving at district events for multiple districts, or serving in large scale conservation efforts Bob is there with the OA youth. He teaches kindness, service with a smile, steadfast commitment and endurance in service to the youth and adults that work with him. Again the question, "Where to start with Bob" this time the answer start at the core of his being -showing a love for all mankind service through service. SUB-DISTRICT: Spanish Fork Kim Syndergaard, Spanish Peak. Kim is one you want to have on your team with you when you need to get something done. He is always willing to contribute his time and resources to the success of any Scouting and outdoor activity. He has been a key player to the success of the Palmyra District Turkey shoot for nearly 17 years. Kim has also been a supportive leader in his local organization contributing to our unit in his position as Varsity Committee Chairman and assisting with the annual Friends of Scouting. Catherine Wahinehookae, Spanish Peak. Catherine is one of the most devoted and dependable scout leaders around. She gives 110% plus some, to her callings as Webelos leader and on the district staff as the coordinator for Cub Scout Leader Specific training. She cares about and loves the Cub Scout program and knows what a difference it can make in the lives of the youth and youth leaders Jim Callison she instructs. Catherine's attitude and attributes toward the Cub Seoul program is an essential pail of our pack and a part of the scouting future of the boys. Her efforts have helped many young men accomplish their goals of Eagle Scout and beyond. Catherine is invaluable! SUB-DISTRICT: Spanish Fork East John Allen, Meadowlark 1st. John has been key to the development of the scouting activity arm of the YM in Meadowlark 1st Ward. He is extremely qualified and is a faithful district Roundtable Commissioner who educates and motivates the Scoutmasters of our district. He is also involved with and committed to the Timberline program. TylerNelson ,Oakview. Tyler, "Buzz", Nelson has a great love for the Scouting program. At age 18, after receiving his Eagle Scout award, he became interested in developing a Scouting webpage for the Palmyra District. He took every business and multi-media class that was offered while he was in the Spanish Fork High School, graduated as the Sterling Scholar in Business and developed an interest in multi-media presentations. He created the very first Scouting webpage for Palmyra District and has maintained this webpage for the last 10 years. He has worked with several District Executives during the past 10 years and each one has helped to contribute to the success of the District website. He continues to find innovative things to put on the webpage for all scouting leaders to help them in their positions as scout leaders. Buzz has been a member of the Palmyra District Publicity committee for the last 10 years and hopes to continue to serve the Palmyra District for years to come. Tyler loves his wife, Meagan, and his 1 and 1/2 children a lot because she lets him spend several hours away from family periodically working on Scouting, in meetings and on the district webpage. SUB-DISTRICT: Spanish Fork South Annaleise Smith, Spanish Fork 12th. Annaleise took over a quality Cub Roundtable program and improved it even more. She puts a lot of time and effort into making sure leaders have solid information and training to carry out their respective positions in Cub Scouts. She has a love and a great understanding of the program and always does her best. SUB-DISTRICT: Salem Michael Wilson, Salem Stake. Michael Wilson has been a dedicated scouter for many years. He is currently serving as the Salem Utah Stake YM President and unit commissioner. He has been faithfully serving the young men in our stake for several years now. He has not only been through Scout Basic Training, Leader Specific Training, he is also trained as an Eagle Counselor. He attended Woodbadge this |
