Timpanogos hockey defeats Salem It was a triple loss for the Salem Ice Hawks, as they were out-skated and out-shot during Thursday's game against Timpanogos. which ended in a score of 0-8. The Ice Hawks also received the announcement that Coach Mehr and his son, Scott, who plays goalie, wil be moving. Scott Mehr was outstanding at defending the goal, with over 30 shots on goal. He only gave up four in the first two quarters, and then the last four at the end of the game. Coach Mehr will be moving his family to Wisconsin, and this will SHHS Football BATTLE OF THE HAWKS: The Salem Skyhawks traveled to Mt. Pleasant Friday, Oct. 3 to take on the North Sanpete Hawks. The home team took the advantage with touchdowns in the second and third quarters to put the game at 14-0. The Skyhawks came back with their own TD in the third, but failed to convert the two-point attempt, leaving the final score 14-6. Quarterback Josh Adams, left, had the lone score on a two-yard run. The Ice Hawks are a young team with a promising future, and they appreciate all the support they have had in the stands at their home sanies. ALA Football Norris signs with Sioux Falls The University of Sioux Falls track and field program is pleased to announce the signing of Chris Norris, a sprinter from Spanish Fork. "We're thankful to have Chris as part of our team," said USF track and field coach Gene Brooks. "He is a very gifted sprinter, and will become part of an outstanding group of male sprinters within our program." Norris attended Spanish Fork High School, where he was the team captain his senior year and is on the top 10 all- time lists in both the 100 and 200 meter races. He was the 2008 regional champion in the 100 and 200 meters, and was part of the region champion 4x400 meter relay team. Those finishers qualified for the state championships, and in the 200 meters and the 4x400 meter relay, he reached the finals. One of Norris' most notable performances came at the Bulldog Invitational, where he won the 100 meters competing against a field containing more than 30 schools in all classifications. SF Rec. Both teams were looking for their first win in region play. Gunnison's Matthew Harris had his way with the Eagles, amassing three touchdowns in the 34-14 game. ALA's first score came in the second quarter, with senior Kyle Telaroli running the ball in from five yards out. In the fourth the Eagle defense added a score with a big fumble recovery by James Way, who ran the ball back 75 yards for a touchdown. Above, ALA's Seth Anderson evades a would-be tackier. Men's Basketball The Men's Basketball' Organizational Meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 16. at 6:30 pm. in the C building at SFHS. This is a mandatory meeting for team representatives. Spanish Fork Football Uniform check in will be Monday, October 13 and Tuesday, Oct. 14 Please bring all equipment and 2 jerseys to Russell Swenson ball park between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. A $5.00 refund will be given to those who bring a washed uniform with pant pads placed back in pants. Youth Wrestling Salem Football Uniform check in will be Monday. Oct. 13 and Tuesday, Oct. 14 Please bring all equipment and two jerseys to Salem football field (Canal Park) from 4—6 p.m. Youth wrestling volunteer coaches needed. SHHS Volleyball ALA Volleyball Namon Bills / Spanish Fork News REGION 4 TENNIS: Spanish Fork had a disappointing showing at the Region 4 tennis tournament at Timpanogos High School, Oct. 1-2. The one bright spot was Alexa Johnson, above, who placed third at third singles and qualified to compete at state.
