The opening social is a way for everyone to get to know each other from both junior highs and the high school. We plan games for the kids to learn how to become an amazing chapter and have fun with their friends. Not only do they get the privilege to play games with their friends but the officers made them food too. The officer team did an amazing job at entertaining and feeding the 160 kids that showed up. This was by far the biggest opening social we have had in years. For entertainment we played volleyball, water balloon toss, and games in the Agriculture building. The officers were grateful for everyone who participated and hopes the rest of the year will continue to be a success. Club Rush starts off strong this year SFHS calendar Hillary Herbert SFHS Club Rush is winding down. All week students have been signing up for club after club, but which clubs are they signing up for? The Inner' Wellness Club, specializing in encouraging teens to live a healthier lifestyle, became very popular among those attending SFHS. Students interested in their own wellness were also interested in their peers' wellness. This concern lead many students to PANIC Club. PANIC concentrates on spreading the news about the danger of narcotics to youth in the Utah Valley. Students interested in serving others 'joined the Key Club, which specializes in service. The more artistic side of SFHS reveals itself through clubs such as the Masque Club and Guitar Club. Guitar Club allows students to come together with a passion for music. They encourage each other and allow expansion for artistic ability. Culturally inclined students join German Club, French Club, and Spanish Club. All three provide a way for students to learn about a new language, and gain the opportunity to ac- quaint themselves with other cultures. Every club offers much to gain for the students at SFHS. Better opportunities are just around the corner thanks to the 2008 season of Club Rush. Masque Club starts a fresh new year For the last week Masque i Club has been fundraising ', for the local fire fighters in ; Spanish Fork. Inspired by the nation-wide recognition of September 1 lth, the Masque Club presidency came together and found a way to commemorate the holiday. They decided to \ show their appreciation to fire fighters who protect us everyday by raising money and donating it to the Fire ''frSoccerat^111 Department so that they would be able to use the funds for supplies they need. Leisl Cope, a member of the presidency said, "Originally we were going to send the money to New York, but the thought about how 9/11 is a time to celebrate how we live now. So we decided to give it to our local firefighters because they are our everyday heroes." The Masque club felt that no one really recognizes the fire fighters in Spanish Fork. Club President, Dominic Bills said, 'The local firefighters are really good people who do a lot, but don't get enough thanks and support so we wanted to remember them." So far the Masque Club has raised $410. They hope to that students will continue to support them in their cause.
