'.•-. \ , ,^ ^•JJ.^ "°\r' o \i .'V SFHS recently announced their Sterling Scholars for 2010. Speech and Drama: Katie Cable is the daughter of Darin and Lori Cable. She is this year's Masque Club president and has been involved in all of the shows at SFHS. She plans to attend SUU next year and major in drama. Social Science: Logan Wells is the son of Larry and Mailee Valdez. He trav- eled to Washington, D.C. this year with Close-Up and is taking AP US History, AP Government and AP Psychology. He's participated in a state geography tournament and a debate tournament at USC. His future plans include going to college, serving a mission and becoming a lawyer and a congressman. Foreign Language: Carolina Parodi is the daughter of Martin Parodi and Miriam Rodriguez. In addition to speaking English and Spanish, Caro- lina has taken five year* of French and three years of Japanese. The vice president of the Japanese Club, she plans to attend Snow College, eventually get a master's in language and minor in zoology. Visual Arts: Emily McKinney is the daughter of Sean and Holly McKinney. She has taken art classes every year since junior high and has participated each year in the fine arts assembly at SFHS. She took third place in creativity at the Peteetneet high school art show. She plans to attend BYU, major in art education and become an art teacher. Mathematics: Kristie Stoneman is the daughter of Earl and Andrea Stoneman. An advanced math student since sixth grade, she took AP Calculus as a junior and scored a 5 on the AP test. She continues to study calculus on her own. She's participated in state math contests in eighth, ninth and 1 Ith grade. She plans to attend BYU and study engineering with a biomedical focus. Business and Marketing: Mackenzi Berns is the daughter of Michael and Paula Berns. This year's FBLA president at SFHS, she's taking various business classes, including web design, accounting and computer technology. She plans to attend BYU and the U of U, get her pharmacy technician's license and eventually become a pharmacist. Science: Dallin Parkinson is the son of Cameron and Marlene Parkin- son. Dallin passed the AP Chemistry test last year and is a member of NHS and captain of the SFHS swim team. He plans to attend USU and major in mechanical engineering. Music: Rebecca Greene is the daughter of Ed and Mary Ann Greene. She has played the trumpet for six years and is a member of the concert, marching and jazz bands at SFHS. She has also sung in the choir for two years. Social Science: Natalie McVey is the daughter of Samuel and Connie McVey. She's taken AP US History and has participated in the Utah National Guard's leadership conference i n which participants learn about patriotism and government. She's interested in foreign affairs and history, and plans to attend BYU, either majoring in political science or anesthesiology. Mathematics: Trisha Christensen is the daughter of Brent and Tammy Christensen. She's taken advanced math classes since sixth grade. She took AP Calculus as a junior and this year is taking AP Statistics. She plans to major in accounting and become a CPA. Science: Schyler Ellsworth is the son of David and Chris Ellsworth. He's taken AP Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Science, and is working on a project involving falconry. He plans to serve a mission and then attend college at USU, majoring in either science or math education. Foreign Language: Rylee Locke is the son of Reno and Cassidy Locke. With a grandmother from Mexico, Rylee gained an early interest in learning Spanish. He took AP Spanish last year. He plans to attend the U of U as a pre- drafting. She is developing med student.
