The Salem Days Duct Tape Boat Regatta was held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at Salem Pond. Sixty-two boats competed in the five regular categories. Participants showed up at 4 p.m. to collect their supplies and construct their boats. Races began at 6 p.m. In the freestyle category, three boats competed — two were actually registered and the Salem royalty jumped in for the fun of it. While not winning the race, Patrick Hogle and Harold Measom certainly won crowd approval, reaching new fashion highs and lows as drag queens with their truck-shaped watercraft, "Dragging Main."
