Local desert champ holds instruction course An instruction course for Utah desert racers was held on July 27-28 in Spanish Pork Canyon. Local champion Bert Bradford, along with Rob Phillips and Dave Pearson hosted the event. Bradford, a 31-year-old from Spanish Fork, is the current Utah State Off-Road Motorcycle champion. Rob Phillips, a 31year-old from St. George and former Utah State Champion, is currently the leader of the over30 class in the National Hare & Hound Race Series. Dave Pearson, a 23-year-old from Panaca, Nev. is currently the National Hare & Hound Race Series Champion and factory rider for KTM. Pearson is also one of a four-man team that won the World Jr. Trophy Team Championship in New Zealand in 2006 — a first in American history, in a sport dominated by European riders. The three racers put on the instruction course to benefit Bradford, who recently made the United States Motorcycle Team qualifying in races in* Ohio, Idaho and Colorado.
