Composers such as Wolfga ng Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beetho ven, and Jo ha nn Sebastia n Bach wi II be heavily represented, but the program will also prese n t musi c from a variety of genres, inc luding transcriptions o f orch es tral a nd operatic literature. T he concert, a segment in SUU 's Summ e r Evenin g Con cert Series, is free and open to the public. Jt w ill begin at 7 p.m . in th e Randall L. Jones T heatre. An o utreach program w ill also be presented during th e afte rnoon at the Iron Count y Rest H o m e in Parowan. "The ir pe rfo rma nces include som e pi eces fa miliar to virtually all m e mbe rs of the ir a udie n ces. Often, co mpositions by Utah co m posers are included. Overall, the ensemble presents a program that inco rporates m an y st yles and e ras of music. " Members of Th e Prevailing Winds include Laurel Ann Ma urer, flutei Susan Swidn icki, oboe; Scott Harris, clari ne t; Linda Atkin, ho rn; Joyce Mahoney, bassoon. Each of the musicians is Uta h based. "The Prevailing Winds has been reCO!,'Tiized as one of the pre mie re ch a m ber music gro ups in th e sta te and as being composed of som e of th e fin est mus icians in the area," Bingham po ints out. "Am ong t he e ve nts w here the e nsembl e has perfo rmed arc the airn ual Uta h Arts Festi vaJ, the Sa lt Lake Arts Counci l's 'Brown Bag Seri es,' the Contemporary Music Conso rtium, and the Utah State Fair."
