Planned improvements for the theatre include removing all the remaining ceiling tile, repainting the ceiling a darker color and adding new sound splays for better acoustics. Workers will also repair seating in the building. Stage improvements include the installment of safety guides on the orchestra lift. Also, stage electrics and black boxes will be moved upstage to improve lighting conditions. During the renovations, the stage lighting system will be computerized. While the timing of the project is inconvenient, White said the campus has been waiting for some of these repairs for well over a decade. The problem with a project of this deal, said sort is that it is a one-shWhite. If were going to take the trouble of closing the theatre, we have to do as much as we can, because it wont happen again. ot According to Wolf, similar family support centers have operated for about 12 years. In addition to the three centers in Salt Lake City, five more are in operation throughout the state. Also on the Councils agenda was the new computer system for the Cedar City Police Department. The department recently seized $50,000 in cash from a narcotics arrest that will, in part, be used to buy a new computer system. The Council has been approached with proposals to add nine holes to the city golf course. We feel that the cost for the end product is too high, said Council member Evan Vickers. But, Vickers said, the possibility of a new golf course still exists. On Campus EMT training to begin Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training 120 begins tomorrow.
