I like being involved in student government. Ive had a great experience, Bailey said. Bailey says one of his qualifications is that he can get along with people. With a job in student government, you have to work with people, he said. Im prepared if Im elected, he said. This year has really helped. Bailey said that it takes time to know who to talk to and where to go with student concerns. Bailey said he decided to run because he has had a great year this year and is hoping for a better year next year. One of his main problems would be the budget decrease, he said. He wants the legislature to realize why education is important. He also wants to get the Graduate Interview Program running again. Brent Scott is running for student body president for 86-8- 7 for the Real People Party. Scott said he decided to run after he and some friends were thinking about some things that need to be changed around campus. Im a student and I understand student needs. I can relate to them, he said. If he is elected, Scott sees getting funds for the Library as a major problem. He said that a few years ago, ASSUSC President Scott Price got help from the student body for library funds. The student body raised $30,000, said Scott, and the government matched two dollars for every dollar the student body brought in. Scott sees this as a possible solution to the problem. He said that apathy is also a major problem at SUSC. He wants to get as many students as possible involved in school.
