PQRtfVS CD REVENGE. ijt 4 tPl n MOVING VIOLATIONS The Pl9 W -- N-i- Members of SUSCs chapter of the national business organization traveled to St. George for the state contests which involved 200 representatives from the states 10 PBL chapters. The national PBL conference will be held July 5 through 8 in Houston, Texas. Evan W. Jolley, owner of Jolleys Ranchwear in Cedar City, was honored as PBLs Utah Business Person of the Year. Jolley was eligible for the state award after being named Cedar City Business Person of the Year by the SUSC club in February. SUSC finished competition with 24 place awards, nine honorable mentions and the recognition award for Business Person of the Year, according to Chi Alpha Chapter Adviser Doris Williamson. In addition to the contest honors, SUSC student Mike Houston, Cedar City, was elected He ran on the the state PBL issue of increased communication between the southern and northern schools and professionalism, said PBL President Jon Christy. Josefina Navarrele, Ipapuato, Mexico, finished state competition with first place honors in both Economics and Ms. Future Business Executive contests. Brent Fowles, Cedar City, finished first in Business Law. Steve Radmall, Cedar City, finished first in Accounting II, second in Economics and honorable mention as Mr. Future Business Executive. Brian Goettlick, Hilger, Mont., won the right to represent Utah at the nationals in Management and also finished second in Mr. Future Business Executive and received honorable mention in Marketing. Christy, Santa Ana, Calif., finished first in Whos Who in PBL, and Ken Kloza, Chicago, 111., first in Marketing. Kloza also won honorable mention in Mr. Future Business Executive competition. The SUSC chapter won additional first place honors as the largest Utah chapter with 107 members. Cindy Batt, Parowan, finished second in Administrative Assistant Typist competition. Susan Winn, Cedar City, finished second in Business Communications, third in Word ProcessingMachine Transcription and honorable mention as an Administrative Assistant Typist. Scott Price, Cedar City, finished second jn Impromptu Speaking and fifth in Business Decision Making. Additional second place honors went to the chapter for Achievement in Business Advocacy and for the Outstanding Project. Third place honors were won by Bill Honeck, Brigham City, in Impromptu Speaking, and to Tanya Campbell, Cedar City, as Ms. Future Business Teacher. Mike Houston finished State fourth in Data Processing II. Keilani Lindsay, Huntington Beach, Calif., finished fourth in Word ProcessingMachine Transcription, while Mike Olsen, Orem, was fourth in Impromptu Speaking. Several representatives from Gov. Norman Bangerters office will visit SUSC June 12 to take part in Utah Girls State activities. Carol Clark, the governors press secretary and administrative assistant for education and public affairs, will represent Bangerter in State Day activities scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. in the SUSC Great Hall. Also scheduled to speak at the Girls State assembly are W. Val Oveson, state lieutenant governor; Edward T. Alter, state treasurer; Sandra Sjogren, assistant attorney general; Rick Hosier, state director of financial auditing; and Gordon R. Hall, chief justice of the Utah Supreme Court. Girls State will be held on the SUSC campus June 9 through 15. This is the 16th year that the college has hosted Girls State activities, said Coordinator of Conferences and Workshops Daphne Dailey. We are pleased that this important learning process is being held again at SUSC. The public is invited to attend State Day and other general assembles, she said.
