Jamie Hamblin and Katy Stirland brought down some key rebounds and steals to help the Cowgirls stay within three at the half. With 2:32 left in the game, Kanab clung to a 46-4- 2 lead. Millard continued their physical play and decided to see if Kanab could hit free throws. The girls responded as Larsen hit four of six; Ramsay and Stirland one for two; and Amanda Cooper two of three. Special recognition goes to senior Bobbie Sue Ramsay who really used her experience and tough mental play in the five minutes of the game. She made two key steals, a vital offensive rebound, and helped Jamie Hamblin run the team and the clock down. Larsen poured in 25 points to lead the Cowgirl scorers, including three treys. Amanda Cooper netted 12, with Bobbie Sue Ramsay adding seven. Thursday the anxiety in the locker room was thick as Kanab was determined to show everyone that beating Enterprise earlier was not by chance. The Cowgirls motto of one team-on- e goal was quickly put to the test as they found themselves trailing 13-- 8 at the end of the first period. Amanda Cooper continued to struggle with her shot and was tagged with two quick fouls. Sarah Cooper entered the game and hit a quick eight foot shot. Kanab took a time out and drew up what they hoped would be the winning play. Hopefully the ball could get to an open girl, as we knew both Coopers would be guarded closely. With the clock running down, Kanab did not panic, but got the ball to Amanda who was quickly doubled. Sarah ran to the center of the key and received a picture perfect pass from Amanda. With a hand right in her face Sarah hit one of her patented jump shots as the buzzer sounded. The officials determined there was one second left of the clock and Enterprise tried to throw it to midcourt for a quick shot. Sarah Cooper stepped up again and made it impossible for the Wolves to get off a clear shot. Pandemonium broke loose as the Kanab fans poured onto the court to congratulate their hever say die Cowgirls. While Sarah was the deserving hero of the game, without great team play from everyone involved, this win could not have happened. Amanda Cooper" scored 13 to lead three Cowgirls in double figures, with sister Sarah and Larsen adding 11.
