OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF KANE COUNTY, UTAH Published every Thursday at Kanab, Utah Errol Year County Agent Editor andv Publisher G. Brown, By CORRESPONDENTS Nan E. Johnson, Orderville Allen Cox, Alton Lillith Pugh, Glendale Mt. A. Carmel Berneeta Tait, I vis Farr, Fredonia COMMUNITY Ranchers in Utah should take careful stock of their fall range, reports John F, Vallentine, extension range specialist at Utah State University. Below normal rainfall in late spring and summer has resulted in forage of low quality as well as quantity. Total range and pasture forage, together with supplemental feed should be carefully supplies, weighed against the number of livestock to be kept through the fall and winter. MEMBER UTAH STATE PRESS ASSOCIATION The following range practices recommended under the present drouth conditions: 1. Distribute livestock grazing over the range to obtain uniform use of all forage. This may be accomplished by additional herding, fencing, and water development as well as by placing salt and feeding supplements to one mile away from water. I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death, your right to say it. one-four- Job Well Done The fine job that members of Kanab Chamber of Commerce, last week at together with others of the city' and area, did of east Kanab, was the highway dedication ceremonies on reflected this week in comments of high praise by the many attending. It takes a Chamber of Commerce to put over a project of this nature, and, while the Kanab Chamber has been organized but a few months, the much good they have done in that short time should be recognized. Scott Brandon, president; Robert Bodvin, executive secretary; and Miss Verda Drake, secretary and treasurer; have done a fine job in helping to get the Chamber started and carried the load incident to the road dedication. Fay Hamblin, Abe Bonham, Claud Glazier, M. W. Beard, Royce G. Hulsey, and Kelvert Button also put in much time, and some money and equipment, to make the event a big success. Other members and officers and directors of the recently organized Chamber of Commerce have done much to help ensure its success. Signs have been put out, directing persons to nearby attractions, brochures have been designed and printed, committee work has gone forward on other projects, and, while progress may seem slow at times, we feel sure that the telling effects of the organization will be rewarding to those taking part and to those holding membership. Having made the start, which usually is the most difficult, lets all make sure that the Chamber of Commerce is kept alive! You can best accomplish this by attending meetings, taking part in committee assignments, and keeping your membership on a current basis. , 2. A Minute and Letters Capital st County cjnpprplv MILNE.
