W. Holbert, federal Veterinarian over brucellosis eradication in our area, that Arizona revised the import regulations governing livestock coming into Arizona. According to Dr. Holberts letter, In the future, range breeding animals will be required to be tested for brucellosis prior to entry Into the State of Arizona. , If this law is enforced, It will mean that Utah cattlemen who wlnfer on the Arizona Strip will be put to a lot of bother every-timthey move into Arizona. If we could have 40 percent of every herd in Kane County tested and all purebred stock and all dairy animals tested and show less than 1 percent Infection from brucellosis, our county could be declared brucellosis-freand we wouldn't have to worry about regulations like the one above. Buyers are paying a higher price for animals that have been vaccinated and several counties in Utah have been brucellosis free, areas. The longer we put off getting our county declared brucellosis free, the more we will feel discrimination reflected In lower and lower prices for our feeder stock. This testing program is free to the livestock owners of this area. Contact me or Dr. Holbert in Cedar City to get your cattle tested and-oyour calves, vaccinated. Lets not let a few of us keep the rest of us from enjoying the benefits of having Kane County declared a brucellosis free area.
