Thanks for caring Dear Editor. The family of Arnold Hegge would like to thank everyone who has touched our hearts in our time of sorrow. It was very comforting to know that so many people cared. We really appreciated the calls, food, flowers, cards and love. There are not enough words to express our appreciation. We would also like to thank our church family at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church for all that they did for us. A special thanks to Pastor Marc Spaeth for such a wonderful service and for being there for us in our time of need. Our family would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Vermeesch, Dr. Arora, Southern Utah Home Care, Kane County Hospital, and the N ursing Home. A special thanks to Dennis and Jeff Mosdell for all the help they gave our family. It was a great party and we enjoyed being there. While we were in town, we heard all kinds of disturbing comments in regard to local affairs. I was very disappointed to hear that the old hospital had been vandalized to the tune of $15,000. I had hoped that the building would have been turned over to the nursing home. There is a waiting list of at least 54. What a shame. I hope the vandals are caught and made to pay for the repairs. While at the Blue Grass Concert, I looked at the north side of the middle school. Many win-- i dows are broken from rocks be-ing thrown. How long before this building is damaged beyond repair? I was very concerned with the different factions developing to push their opinions on others without trying to do what is best for everyone'. If the different factions would get together and di long-tim- , , . rect their energy for the common good, the citizens of Kanab could accomplish almost any- thing. The Escalante Staircase, Bruce Babbitt and the President have gone against the will of most Utahns, but this is all a fact that has happened. Why not make the most of what has happened and turn it to the benefit of Kanab? You will not be able to make the BLM and Staircase go away, therefore, why not work together to take their money and make them allocate monies to be spent in Kanab? Everyone would benefit from it. The Wilderness, Grand Staircase and Paria Monument have taken up local governments time and money longer than most can remember. Accept the fact and do the best you can with it, because you wont be able to change it Kanab is still a beautiful place, and I will look forward to more frequent visits. It was great to see so many dear friends and visit with them and our apologies to those that we were unable to contact. I saw that the Ranchos Roads are nearly ten years old and still look good. Once I was told that they wouldnt hold up for five years. All things work out for the best, with a little effort from everyone. I wish Kanab the very best and have many fond memories of our 24 years there.
