Ramsay represented Kanab High School by demonstrating his skills in the category of Law Enforcement, and came home with a gold medal. He competed with the top 29 people in the nation in his class. When the Olathe Sheriffs Department and FBI staged a mock robbery, each contestant (one at a time) was called to a robbery in progress. When Ramsay arrived on the scene, he knew exactly what to do and how to do it. He made the arrest, collected evidence, took statements from the witnesses, and wrote reports. The young man from Kanab won the gold medal. It was great, says Ramsay with a smile on his face. The FBI awarded Ramsay a plaque. Besides the contest, Ramsay was kept busy attending leadership meetings, making friends and having fun. Kelly added that last year, Tom Avant, son of Mike and Carla Avant, won first place at Nationals in his category, Principles of Technology. This small town has had two Nationals winners and were all very proud. VICA is a nation-wid- e club, run by students. It promotes I knew it had to be me. Ramsay will attend Southern Utah University this fall. He is the son of Robert and Holly Ramsay of Kanab. Also attending the event was Justin Heydom, son of Karl and Elaine Heydom.
