Mareh split 5050 Illegal Reptiles Subject Of Arizona Raid a. all revenues derived from federal lands in Utah. However, the State of Utah collects 100 percent of the revenue from its own lands. The Interior Department was concerned that the federal government could possibly lose substantial amounts of revenue from valuable federal lands which the State of Utah would obtain in a state federal land swap. During the past few weeks, Congressman Hansen, Governor Matheson, and the Department of the Interior have reached a compromise to ensure that the revenues from the lands which will be exchanged will be shared equitably between Utah and the federal government. In addition, the revised bill addressee concerns raised by mining interests in Utah regarding current mining claims on federal lands which will become state lands. Under the revised Project Bold bill, the State of Utah will administer the mining claims on former federal lands for no more than 10 years. After that date, the state will be able to select other federal lands in lieu of those lands still encumbered by mining claims. A member of the Sears financial network dec-larati- lf Supplementary Information: Asclepias welshii (Welsh's milkweed) is an, herbaceous perennial plant, 2.5. 10cm, tall, with large oval leaves and cream colored flowers that are d in the middle. The plants on dunes in the Coral Pink sand grow Sand Dunes, Kane County, Utah. The species is jeopardized by ORV use and livestock grazing. The service proposed determination of endangered with critical habitat status for Asclepias welshii in the Federal Register, June 6, 1984, (49 The period for FR submission of public comments on the proposal was originally scheduled to end on August 6, 1984. Section 4(b) (5) (E) of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended, requires that a public hearing he held, if requested within 45 days of the publication of a proposed rule. On July 19, 1984, the Service received a letter from Milo A. Barney, Associate Director for Resource Management, Utah Department of Natural Resources, requesting a hearing on the proposal with to determine endangered critical habitat status for Asclepias welshii. The Service has scheduled this hearing for September 18, 1984 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Kane County Courthouse, District Bold bill on 22, 1984. However, the Department of Interior and some interests in Utah raised objections to portions of the bill which dealt with revenues collected from state and federal lands in Utah. Under current law, the State of Utah and the federal government the original Project Congressman Jim Hansen reintroduced a revised Project Bold bill today in the U.S. House of Representatives. The "inspired version of the bill retains the basic concept of an exchange of federal and state lands in Utah, but ensures that nsithsr the federal or state government will realize an unfair economic windfall from exchanged lands. "I think this compromise will calm the fears of those in Utah ud in the federal government that one aide might benefit more than the other from the proposed land swap. I'm pleased we have overcome those fears with this compromise, becadse I believe Project Bold will dramatically help Utah and the federal government more effectively manage and develop their lands in Utah, Hansen said. Congressman Hansen introduced Election Box X by Helen Hudgens after I move to Arizona must I wait before I can register to vote? People may register to vote immediately upon coming to Arizona u long as they are residents of the State and the county where they wish to register. Years ago people had to wait months before being allowed to register. These laws were struck down by the Supreme Court in 1972. (Dunn vs. Blumstein) Arizona State Law now requires that a person be a resident fifty days prior to the General election in order to register to vote. Since registration closes fifty days prior to the General election only those who have registered by the deadline will have their names put on the list of eligible voters. Two other criteria must be met in order to qualify as a resident for voting purposes. First, a person must have a place within the county that is considered home. This must be a fixed location that can be identified ow a sup. Poet Office boxes or rural route numbers are mailing addresses and are not adequate for residence addresses. No one lives in their Post Office box. The second criteria is more difficult, namely it must be the intent of the person to make the county their residence. A person who moved into the eounty without the intent of making it his residence does not have the right to register and vote. On the other hand, a person does not lose residency because of a temporary absence. The law allows for returned mail as sufficient grounds for proceeding with a challenge based on residency. If you are new to Coconino County and have not yet registered to vote, you may wish to do so soon. The last day to register to vote in the November General Election is Sept. 17. ff you are currently registered in another county or state, that registration will be cancelled when you register to vote in Coconino County.
