The driver and his wife sustained serious enough injuries that they had to be flown to Salt Lake City for surgery. The eight year old boy was flown by helicopter to Flaggstaff for possible head injuries. The only occupant not injured was a one year old little girl that had been placed into a child seat! We are very fortunate that all occupants will recover. Still more proof about car seats and seatbelts!! 03 Traffic Accident wInjury. A 2003 semi tractortrailer combo was involved in a single vehicle rollover on S.R 89 at mile 103. The semi was traveling northbound when the driver tried to move over for passing vehicles. The tractor tires dropped off the side of the road causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and the trailer began to tip over. Even- tually both the tractor and the trailer tipped over onto their right side and slid down the highway before coming to rest across both travel lanes. The driver of the truck was transported to Kane County Hospital. Accident occurred at 12:14 p.m. Though we still had a couple of serious injuries sustained in vehicle accidents this week, the overall numbers fell off quite a bit. We are still seeing some high numbers of people not wearing their seatbelts, and many others (especially out of area drivers) coming through at some very high speeds. Some ofthese people are driving well over 100 mph on roads that they have never seen before. Now I might have the IQ of a dirt clod, but that just does not seem very intelligent to me! Anyone else see how any good can come ofthese kinds of speeds on our highways? This upcoming week is gearing up to be a busy one with Western Legends, the Elementary School starting up, and the end of summer drawing close. Please help us and yourselves by keeping yourselves safe, but still having as much fun as you possibly can!!
