Show PaSe6 SOUTH EAST INDEPENDENT Sugar House, Utah Thursday, Jan. 10, 1957 --Out Holladay Way Sunday Dinner and Social Fetes Holladay Church Youth Members of the Senior High Group of the Holladay Community Church were entertained at a din-ner and social hour at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Lieboner, 2007 Arcadia Lane, Sunday eve-ning. Rev. S. Macon Cowles, leader of the group, was in charge of ar-rangements. Following the dinner a social hour featured games and a program. Irene Richards Weds Berkeley, Calif., Man Mr. and Mrs. Daniel W. Rich-ards, 4530 Holladay Boulevard, an-nounces the marriage of their daughter, Irene, on January 5th to j Edward R. Woodside of Berkeley, California. They exchanged i nuptial vows in Carson City, Nevada. The bride is now teaching in the Haywood School District, Berkeley. She is a graduate of the U of U and affiliated with the Phi Mu Sorority. The groom is a student at the University of California at Berkeley where he is pursuing a doctor's degree in Paleontology. Queens For Jobs Daughters Chosen At Masonic Temple Miss Evelyn Fletcher, 3620-23r- d . East, is the new honored queen of Bethel No. 1. Miss Sharon Cardwell was installed as honored queen of Bethel No. 5. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cardwell, 2497 Glenmare. New honored queen of Bethel No. 7 Is Miss Alice M. Sanders, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Sanders, 933 E. 33rd So. Installation ceremonies were held Saturday evening at the Masonic Temple. Bethel No. 7 Officers to help Miss Sanders direct activities of Bethel No. 7 for the next term will be Miss Joan Pemberton, senior princess; Miss Young Artist Gives Recital At Amia Club Miss Marsha Brinton, who re-cently took first place in piano at the Utah State Fair Music Contest, presented a piano recital with her sister, Janie, at the meeting of Amia club Monday at 8 p.m. at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David B. Brinton, 5000 Mari-lyn Drive. Piano selections from the works of composers Bach, Mozart, Men-delssohn, Chopin, Lavelle, Gisalle and Rizel and sketches on the lives and works of these composers were given during evening pro-gram. Florence Amodt, Beth Ostler, and Even Patton were hostesses for the home recital. Family Service Executive To Speak At Holladay P-T- A Mrs. Emma Jean King, executive secretary of the Family Service Society, will be the featured speak. er of the Holladay Elementary Parent Teachers Association night at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Dan Frampton Completes 12-wee- k Dry Cleaning Course Dan Frampton has just com-pleted a 12-we- ek training course at the National Institute of Dry Cleaners, Silver Springs, Maryland, where he received top honors in his class. He resides with his wife and three children at 2166 Arbor Lane. He i3 the son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVere Frampton of the Holladay Cleaners and he will be associated with his father in the Holladay Cleaners. Irene Barney to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Ralph S. Barney, 3260 Orchard St., have announced the wedding date of their daughter, Irene, to Wallace F. Tolman of Logan, Utah, on February 7th. The nuptial ceremony will be performed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The newlyweds will then make their home in Logan where the bridegroom is a student at the Utah State Agricultural College. Ice Skating Entertains Boy Scouts and Bee-Hiv- e Girls The Boy Scouts and Bee Hive Girls of the Valley View Second Ward had an ice skating party January 3 at Hygeia Iceland. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Ovard, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Norton, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Anderson were chaperones of the group. Holladay Miss Wins Make-It-Yourse- lf With Wool Contest A tall, attractive, well-lik- e Olympus high school junior v.alked off with the top honors of the junior division of the "make it yourself with wool" contest con-ducted this week at the Hotel) Utah by the Women's Auxiliary of the Utah Woolgrowers. Rosemary Haslam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeGrand Haslam of 1701 East 4225 South, won the coveted trip to Las Vegas. She fashioned a brown and white hounds tooth fine check sleeveless sheath dress with front dart detail and costume type top coat to match with matching yoke detail and top stitching to win the award. She wore brown accessories and an orange winter hat. Rosemary chose the material and pattern to suit her personality said Mrs. Dennis Dallin, sewing teacher of Olympus High, in whose classes the winner is a second year stu-dent The prize-winn- er has been inter-ested in sewing and has always liked to sew since she was able to hold a needle, according to her mother who mentioned Rosemary's coming trip at which time she will compete on January 21 for national honors with winners from the mid-west and western areas of the country. Grand prize for the national win-ner will be a trip to Paris.
