Other winners in the nation-al contest will each receive $500 scholarships offered by the University of Missouri in commemoration of its 50th anniversary. Sophomore Of Olympus Wins Utah Entry Chere Henriksen, 15, daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Philo C. Henriksen, 2675 East Wren Rd., will represent Utah at the finals in the nationwide "I Speak For Democracy" contest. The choice of the Olympus High School Sophomore as the Utah finalist awarded her an opportunity to compete with finalists from other parts of the country Feb. 22 at Wash-ington, D. C, contest sponsors said Wednesday. The national winner will receive a $1500.00 scholarship to the college of University of his of her choice, plus a $500 scholarship at the school of Majestic Manor are also of-fered along with the lessons. The free use of the lifts is in effect only during class time and the students must pay for their use after that time. Identifying buttons will bo issued to all students, classing each in one of four abilitj catagories. The buttons will admit stu-dents to free lift rides aud reduced lunch rates. The school directors hope to teach more than 1,000 students the basic a):t of skiing this year. The ski enrollment last year reached 960. Recreatron Group Plans Ski School A free eight-wee- k ski school for young people of 18 years and under will start January 10th and sponsored by the Salt Lake County Recreation De-partment. The eight sessions will be held at Brighton, on both the Mt., Majestic and Mt. Millicent courses, and are scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. Busses will pick up the skiers at each high school in the County. There will be a fee of $1.50 charged for each round trip to the resort. Students may register on the bus to the first session or at the area during the first lesson.
