Cities frqm coast-to-coa- st along with local chairmen, will be cited in recognition of the extensive contributions made in advancing the progress of the beauty profession, and to giving greater beauty service to the women of America. SPECIAL SERVICES National Beauty Salon Week signals thousands of salon own-ers and cosmetologists all over the country to emphasize the special services which they pro-vide to communities all year long. . ' By the time a family acquires I a nest egg these days, inflation j has turned it into chicken feed.- - Is Your Boy 13? This is the sixth in the series of Selective Service articles. Physicians, dentists, andalliea specialists are liable for induction under the same conditions as are other registrants, but special pro-visions apply to them. A registrant who receives a professional degree in these fields is required to report that fact to his local board as information affecting his classification. Virtually every medical or dental student is deferred to complete his studies. This extends liability to age 35. The law provides authority for the Secretary of Defense to re-quisition, men from Selective Service to be selected by their qualifications as physicians or dentists. Authority also provided for ordering to active duty without their consent, physicians and demists who are members of the Reserve. These provisions provide the machinery through which the Armed Forces obtain adequate numbers of physicians and, dentists. Young physicians and dentists are influenced to apply for commissions and to serve two years on active duty in a commissioned status. So long as sufficient numbers seek com-missions, it is not necessary for the Department of Defense to re-quest physicians and dentists through Selective Service. If applications for commissions e, then a requisition for physicians and dentists probably would prompt those selected for induction to seek commissions and enter service as commissioned officers on orders to active duty from the Reserves. In cooperation with the Depart-ment of Defense the Selective Service System defers young physicians in the Defense Depart-ment's residency training program to provide the specialization re-quired in the Armed Forces. t- - - V ft 1 7 V"M NEW An adjustable hood and giant flap pockets take this coat out of the ordinary realm of boys fashions. It's about time thty did, say fashion experts working on a collec-tion of historical cotton costumes that will be presented in a spectacular show in Vienna this fall. The costumes indicate that feminine fashions have been repeating themselves in 50-ye- ar cycles. If this trend continues, the next few years should see a return to the big-skirt- ed look of the mid-18t- h and mid-19t- h Centuries. One mat shown, or four additional glossy prints, are available with 600-wo- rd story from Cotton Council International. Ira? ; rC'A i l l KLIM LOOK Like history, fashion repeats itself.
