How do you build a fire under a man - get him to de-clare his intentions? I've been going with just one man for two years, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only girl he dates. But not once has he ever come even close to the subject of love. Even his kisses are of the brotherly type, and not many of those. He seems devoted to me in every other way, is always considerate and kind - but I want much more than that. I know I love him, and I want to know what I can do to bring him out of his shell. Can you advise, Dear Sally By Sally Shaw DEAR SALLY: My wife is making a couple of soft-muscl- ed nut nf our two sons. aaedlO and 12. She never lets me take our car to work, be-cause she needs it to drive these two husky and healthy kids a total of eight blocks to school, to pick them up me? NEEDING LOVE. DEAR NEEDING LOVE: After two years of giving this man ex-clusively your time, you have a right ro know the facts. Level with him - talk it out. If he really loves you and wants you, he'll come out with it. If he doesn't, all you' re losing is a social companion. Settle this one way or the other, because time's awasting and you don't want to be left high and dry, and alone on the beach because you waited too long to leap. DEAR SALLY: I'm a bachelor of 39, and have been going with a widow of 35 who has-- two children. This woman is charming in every way, I'm in love with her, and I'd like to marry her -- - but the trouble is that I'm still having a hard time getting used to her kids. They're not bad, but they do get on my nerves - terribly. Then, too, she's very devoted to the kids, and I keep wondering if, after we were married, she would always put them before me. I can't for the life of me decide whether? to take the plunge or not. Can you help me? ON THE FENCE. DEAR ON THE FENCE: My advice to you is to look for either a single girl or a childless widow. With this woman, your own nature would spell defeat for you from the beginning -- - not only the fact that you find it difficult to get used to her children, but also that you would be "competing" with them for your wife's affections. after school. Do you think I'm wrong in believing that these two boys could walk this distance every day - - rain, shine, snow, or sleet? I did when I was a kid. GROUNDED. DEAR GROUNDED: What do you mean, your wife won't let you have the car? You have a. right to insist that she stop her nonsense. The training of your sons is as much your responsibility as hers. DEAR SALLY: Some of the girls in our high school have gone in for dyeing their hair and I don't mean just rinses but real professional coloring jobs. Brownettes have become redheads, brunettes have turned into blondes, and vice versa. They mostly admit they've done this in order to attract more attention. So far, I've retained my own naturally da ik brown hair and up to now I've been satisfied with it. Doyouhave any comments regarding teen-age- d girls' dyeing their hair? MARIAN. DEAR MARIAN: I think a teen-age- d girl who must dye her hair in order "to attract attention" is way off-cour- se. Young girls should, realize that one of their greatest assets is the freshness and naturalness of youth - and they' re better off and better looking without the artificial color jobs. Leave these to the glamour-seekin- g girls Reservations may be made with Mrs. Homer B.Duncan.
