Why don't some of you kids plan some autumn rides before f'Oid Man Winter" steps in. Bye Now, Lynne Life With Lynne Hi there! Boy, this Flu epidemic is getting me down. It's got a lot of kids down already, down in bed. Ear-lier in the week quite a few of the kids had it. I got it too and that old Flu bug must have had a real fun time. Sue Christensen, Georgianna (George) Burton, Vee Drienne Horman and Linda Leh-ne- r were some of the kids that . were lucky enough to get it. The Flu, that is. There were alot of disappoint- - ments because of the Flu, too. One of the big ones was that most of the games between the high schools in Salt Lake had to be cancelled. Even though some of the kids found it hard to take (I was one of them), I guess it was a wise thing or else they wouldn't have done it. Barbeques are fun even in the early fall. The aroma of ham-burgers being charcoal broiled blends in with the scent of au'umn leaves burning. There's just a cer-tain perfume in the air that re-minds you that fall is here. The other night our family was invit-ed to the Feme S. Howell resi-dence for a hamburger dinner. What a time we had! Carol Dawn Howell and my little brothers had lots of fun catching moths and jkaty-did- s and scaring the old folks and the (ahem) teenagers. Con-nie Howell is my age and we had a lot of fun just talking and look-ing at Sherie Howell's yearbooks from the U of U. I love colors, especially fall co-lors when the mountains are stud-e- d with trees dressed in the;r fall finery. Some are in scarle: and others in gold, then there's the pumpkin orange ones and last, but ;not least, the deep green leaves ;that are waiting to be painted by The Master. When we went on our autumn ride last weekend, I wished I could have bolts and bolts of ma- - LDS Set Classes For Investigators At Chapel The East Mill Creek Ward has scheduled a membership investi-gator program which has been held ifor non-membe- rs during the past weeks. Cross-switc- h your tires every 3,000 miles and ba 'sure to include your spare. Check the wheel alignment. Have your battery water checked frequently every two weeks in summer, once a month in wintertime. Plan your driving. This could save as much as one gallon out of every three in city driving. Only one President has ever been arrested for speeding. He was U. S. Crant who was nabbed by a Washington, D. C cop for driv. ing a two-hors- e carriage down .Pennsylvania Avenue at "unrea sonable speed." General Grant paid a $5 fine and complimented the policeman for doing his duty. mm I Women drivers are better than jmcn in signalling their left hand turns says Dr. Abram M. Barch, Michigan State University. Delaware, Maine, Louisiana, Minnesota and South Dakota resi Jdent motorists received reflective license plates this year. These plates, visible from 2000 feet away at night, help reduce after-darl- i accidents. Walrus hides, . diapers and women's golf gloves are used to build autos, trucks and other aut products. The hides are used to make friction drives for coil wind ing machines, the diapers to polish and clean parts and the gloves ta 'protect workers hands in lacing and tying wiring. |
