Show INDEPENDENT SUGAR HOUSE. UTAH THURSDAY DECEMBER 3, 195,9 PAGE FIVE Dear Sally By Sally Shaw DEAR SALLY: One of the girls in our sorority, without any warning to the rest of us, eloped "with her fiance. Of course, we knew they were planning to be married some time in the future and it had been our intention to give a shower for her as soon as ?. v. an we knew the definite date of the wedding. Now we're wondering if it would be all right for us to give a shower for her, even though she's already married. SORORITY SISTERS. DEAR SORORITY SISTERS: Certainly this is all right. A shower is just as much fun, and the gifts are just as welcome, to a girl after she is married as before. DEAR SALLY: Last week, one of my girl friends and I made a date to see a certain movie to-gether on the following Saturday night. Then a boy phoned me and asked me to go to a dance with him on that same night, so I called my girl friend and broke my date with her. She acted kind of huffy about it and, in fact, hasn't spoken to me since. I think she's being very unreasonable about the whole , think, don't you? IRENE. DEAR IRENE: If you'll stop long enough to think this through very carefully, maybe you'll realize that no thoughtful, honor-able, considerate person will ever cancel a date with one friend in order to go out with another. DEAR SALLY: This will probably sound like a pretty funny one to you. I've been married to my wife for three years now and I still don't know how to address her parents. Up to now I've been calling them Mr. and Mrs., but since I'm really one of the family, this sounds so formal and stilted. I get along with them wonderfully and I'd certainly appreciate any suggestions you may have regard-ing this. COLIN. DEAR COLIN: Since your parents-in-la- w are the persons most concerned, and since you get along with them so wonderfully, why don't you ask them how they'd like to be addressed by you? They're sure to have a better answer than I can give you. DEAR SALLY: A woman in my card club is getting under my skin. I've known her for a long time, know for sure that she was born in the same year that Iwas-whic- h makes her exactly 43 years old. Yet she keeps saying that life will soon be beginning for her, inferring that she's approaching forty. This irks me. I've about decided to embarrass her to her face the next time she pulls this. How about this? MATTIE. "DEAR MATTIE: What satis-faction will you really get out of - embarrassing a woman who's only doing what countless other poor, deluded women try to do- - -- clutching at youth with all her might. If people who fib about their age knew how little others care, they d save themselves lots of time and energy. Sooner or later, the truth will out!
