I don't know if my letter will carry the earliest postmark, but I want to write to let you know that I . identified the mystery picture you carried in your April Ap-ril 17 edition. . .The picture was of the high school coaches who handled the All-Star football and basketball teams in the old Shrine games The picture was taken of the coaches in the summer of 1952. I know because I was a member mem-ber of the South football team that year. The Utah coaches in the picture are Al Mercer John Vranes, Kill ! Knibbe and Taft Watts. I played football at South High School and I hope you will run lineups of the football foot-ball games this fall. If I should happen to win the tickets, please give them to a deserving boy in the area. Lt. Steve Huf faker Arlington Texas I came across your paper by accident last week and would like to become a subscriber. I am particularly interested in sports in this area. I hope that you give us the kind of local sports coverage we need. Max Sirstens Jr. |
