Show Canyon Rim By Linda IJIrd Several families in the Canyon Can-yon Rim area are enjoying a thrilling trip on the Colorado. Those participating in tha event, headed by Merlin Shaw, are Mr. and Mrs. 11. Russell Margetts and their three oldest daughters, 2671 East 3300 So.; Patty Jo Quinn, 3066 South 2700 East; Linda Gerstner, 2029 East 2980 South; Mr. and Mrs. R. Phillip Rasmussen, 2S22 Devereaux Way; Bishop Warren B. Brown of the Highland High-land View West Ward and his wife and four of their children, 2559 East 3020 South; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Mcrrell, 2623 East 2900 South; Mr. and Mrs. Arch J. Milczarek and two ' children, 3030 South 2700 East; and Mr. and Mrs. A. James Kroll and their oldest son 3181 South 2600 East. They left Saturday, June 28, traveling by bus to Hanksville and then by truck to Hite, Utah, where they started on the river. Thirty-eight people went on the trip. In addition to the group from this area, thore were a number from Ogden. Seven rubber boats are --being --being used with five to seven in each boat. No suitcases were taken. All of their needs are carried in duffle bags. The attire for the trip is mostly bathing suits. Each of the boats has a captain and a crew with each crew being given a definite responsibility. There are crews for safety, activities, recording and picture-taking, equipment, packing commissary and odds-and-ends. 'Each crew has, charge of cooking five meals, consisting mainly of canned and dried foods. All along the way . there are hikes and camping out every night by the river. The longest hike is a twelve mile trek to Rainbow Bridge. The trip will conclude at the Crossing of the Fathers, then the group expects to return home Saturday, July 5. Mr .and Mrs. Donald D. Stewart, 319S Harmony Circle, are the proud parents of an 8 poundj 6 ounce son born Saturday, Satur-day, June 21. This is the third son for the Stewart's. The Junior Gleaners of the Rosecrest Ward held a triple-treat triple-treat party on Wednesday, June 25 The party started at the ward house with a watermelon water-melon bust and games. Then the girls went to the home of Deone Leavitt, 2430 Lambourne Avenue. There they enjoyed swimming with eats afterwards on the outdoor patio. Sheri Peterson, 2557 Lambourne Avenue, Ave-nue, was surprised with a gift from the girls and a birthday cake to honor her sixteenth birthday. Then the girls donned their sleeping bags out on the back yard lawn and slept (?) until morning. Bright and early in the morning they were up again for a swim before be-fore breakfast and then returned return-ed to their homes.
