Show South Hyrum Cache County VOL. VIII. WAR Old Folks Enjoy Big Feed "Jackson Dick The night was dark and stormy, The snow was falling fast; I thought of my friends in the army The Third Ward Old Folks reunion was held Thursday, Jan. 17, at the ward meeting house at 11:30 a. m. At about 12 oclock, noon, the auditorium was well filled with married and elderly people of the ward, who had assembled to enjoy the days festivities. The Silver Players were in attendance and rendered several selections which, with other impromptu pieces, kept the assemblage in good humor, while the large tables were being set and the feast was being prepared in the basement. At about 12:30, all partook of a most bounteous feast, which from the appearance of the many smiling faces was immensely enjoyed. After dinner a well prepared program was rendered in the auditorium, which was also ex- ceedmgly enjoyed by all present. At about 5 p. m., an adjournment was taken until 8 oclock when all enjoyed themselves dancing to the splendid music Facing that awful blast. The boys who were once at home, And they who had no desire to roam Now look how theyre scattered here and there. Not only one place but everywhere. There used to be life in every town, But now people pass you with heads hanging don; Thinking of their boys who are at war, Waiting for their call to that land afar. Some in the army, some in the navy, Either on land or sailing the sea. Or still some in the aerial corps, Flying over that foreign shore. They answered their call so brave and true To protect our flag, Red White and Blue. Theyll hold our rights against the foe. As gently through their lines theyll mow. of the high school orchestra. Luncheon was served during the dance. The committee also remembered those who were not able to be present, and a nicb',suncheon was prepared and taken to all the old people who were not able to come out, and also to those who were prevented from coming on account of sickness. A good time was had by all and the reunioA will be remembered by m;jny who had the pleasure of participating in this social event of the season.
