Baron Fava has not made application for his passports, nor has Marquis Im-perialli Im-perialli acknowledged the receipt of Blaine's letter sent him yesterday evening. even-ing. Among the first callers on the secretary secre-tary were the british minister and Sir Charles Tupper.of Canada, who talked with the secietary an hour, presumably about the seal fisheries, reciprocity and other matters foremost in the minds of the Canadians. Secretary Blaine's letter to Marquis Imperiallt is very strongly comtnenned by men of all shades of politics here, and the opinion is widely expressed that it w.ll bring the Italian government to a calmer consideration of the matter. |
