Given under my hand this 8th. day of fune A. D. 1891. H. C. Hanson Bogh Justice of the Peace Fountain Green Precinct j Last week the Enquirer gave the following official figures: The United States produces an-nually manufactured goods to the amount of $7, 000,000,000. To get this manufactured there is paid in wages to the laborers $ 1, 400,000,000 while to the same number of work-men in England (and that country pays better wages than any other except the United States) are paid but $ 784,000,000 for the manufac-ture of the same amount of goods; hence the excess of wages in favor of American workmen reaches the high sum of $616,000,000. Now compare the amouat of tariff of the c untry, . amounting to something like $230,000,000 and ask yourself if the laboring class can stand this small tax (admitting the Democrats are right In calling i'. a tax), to up-hold their high standard of wages? Why kind r td;r,the laboringclass, if called on to pay this fax (?) them selves, would still have a balance in their favor of $396,000,000 better wages than the working men of Eng-land. SUMMONS.
