Show Person needed to serve on Wildlife Advisoiy Council THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday, May 8, 2002 - Page 14 A person to represent nonconsumptive" or environ- mental interests in wildlife recreation is needed on the Southeastern Regional Wild- life Advisory Council (RAC) in southeastern Utah. The council hears wildlife management proposals from the Division of Wildlife Resources, takes public input about the proposals and makes recommendations to the Utah Wildlife Board about which proposals it feels the board should approve. The nonconsumptive position is open to everyone, including people who hunt, fish, trap or participate in other recre- consumptive-oriente- d ational activity. Individuals who are interested in serving must be nominated by a group, who may submit their top two can didates for the position. Groups must submit nominations by May 24. Nomination forms are available at the Division of Wildlife Resources web site (www.wildlife.utah.gov). To find the form click on the Public Meetings selection on the home page, and then click on RAC Meetings. In addition to submitting a form for each person nominated, groups should also supply information explaining why each nominee would make a good RAC member. Meetings are generally held on Tuesday evenings and last from three to five hours. RAC members are considered volunteers but theyre eligible to be reim- bursed for actual meeting attendance expenditures, such as meals and mileage. Overnight travel rarely occurs. RAC members are not allowed more than two unexcused ab- sences at RAC meetings a year." The final decision about who will fill the vacant position will be made by the executive director of the Department of Natural Resources, in consultation with the director of the Division of Wildlife Resources.
