Show FUNERAL SERVICES by margie H lyman very impressive and beautiful funeral services for dixie shumway were held in the blanding ward chapel dec 28 1943 with bishop john D rogers officiating the opening song 1 I know my heavenly father knows was sung by the choir chir invocation by frost black the second song whispering hope was rendered by deaun and paula A dams adams and arlea and belva walker accompanied by mrs mamie adams E 0 biggs principal of the san juan high school was the first speaker he commented on didies keen intellect and her extensive activity mr biggs was followed by mrs elnora W nielson she said that her family and the shumway family had run par I 1 el most of their married life mentioned the deep friend strip between their children she concluded her remarks by reading two poems written for the family one by nelda cummings and an d another called our dixie by marian G nielson aldean washburn and tex bradford played an instrumental d duet et beautiful home homa accompanied iu n e by mrs wasel washburn M F lyman was the third speaker he sees in this thing that has happened an exhibition of the power of god go d he spoke of the admiration that his family had for dixie and of the anol ebed c DIXIE SHUMWAY r continued irom from page I 1 fine friendship of the two families A vocal duet come unto me and rest by josephine bayles and aaron harvey was accompanied by mamie adams patriarch albert R lyman was the last speaker As always he offered word of great consolation he spoke especially of the evidence and proof of life hereafter the closing song was vas a vocal trio unanswered yet by eller L atkin rene L brinkerhoff and allie L platte benediction was vas by president leland W redd at the cemetery the choir sang that beautiful lan lani I the grave was dedicated by grant L bayles the tha pallbearers pall bearers were mates of dixie john hurst joi jo nielson niels cn n tex bradford albear washburn lloyd redd and de loy shumway Shurn way the 22 2 flower girl were members of her sunda school u class and her personal friends dixie the daughter of arah arab E nd md grace powell 1 shumway was born aug 28 1927 the fiat child in a family of nine children she lived all of her short 16 year in blanding her years seemed beeme short because she was so co corn m plemely alive that every minute 0 every day was full and joyful t the purpose it can be truthfully said that Dixi ewas the very essence of yuth youthful ful joy and enthusiasm she could well have beer called the bluebird of happiness her smiling face and the bright sparkle in her eyes was an inspiration to all with whom s she b e came in contact she was very active in the church organizations and an outstanding student in the san juan high school she will be remembered for her work in the I 1 school plays the pep club as cheer aleader leader and for her ability as a majorette in the band as well as in in many other activities her untimely death on dec 26 came as a shock and a sorrow tc the entire community dixie was preceded in death by one brother gerald she is survived by her parents and four sisters shannon who is a nurse cadet at salt lake general shirley jolene and francine Franc lne three brothers devar who is serving in the US U S navy keith and gary two grandmothers and a host of uncles aunts and cousins |
