Show funeral services for s special correspondence mrs margaret nielson adams died at her home in blanding on the morning of january 31 she sha had been ailing for some time and becoming alarmed at her condition ion mos most t of the family had gathered to her bedside on the evening of the I 1 the funeral was held sunday afternoon at three in the blanding tabernacle bishop john D rogers presiding A crowded hoase attested the high regard with which sister adams was held b by y people all over the county for special visitors had come irom monticello la sal and bluff special features of the program was a vocal olo by a daughter mrs clara nielson from new york a duet by mrs ruth bailey ard and her son loile a song mother by a company of young girls and special numbers by the blanding choir among the speakers were floyd nielson D john rogers president leland W redd and grant L bayles all of whom spoke feelingly of the good life and the ion long and faithful labors of cf this one of the oldest san Jua ners sister adams is survived by four sons and four daughters one daughter carlie having preceded her in beaith death several years ago her living children are J ernest lloyd and melvin of blanding and joe adams of monticello her daughters mrs airs kisten perkins and mrs pearl bayles adf blanding mrs effie sherman of salt lake and mrs clara nielson of new york maragaret nielson was born in 1864 in parowan carowan Pa rowan utah where her father bishop jense nielson was one of the pioneers and she went with the pioneer family in her early girlhood to help pioneer cedar at the age of fifteen she came with the hole in the rock company to san juan and went through all the hardships and privations incident to the early days of bluff with its log f fort ort its indian wars and its hazardous trips by team out to durango for supplies in 1887 she was married marrie d to john adams and for a while they lived and farmed in monticello but later settled in bluff where he bought a three room log house and later built a neat stone dwelling he died nine years ago they were among the early settlers setlers of blanding and took an important part in building up the town aunt maragaret was for a long time an efficient president of the and later gave faithful service as president of the relief society her friends include all who have known her since her early girlhood in paro wan and she stands especially high in the esteem of the san who have seen her wade through the tribulations which were necessary in making this country what it is today |
