Show well known pioneer mother passes on 0 1 j serena J christensen widow of the late judge C L christensen and known to hundreds of southeastern utah residents passed from this life last week in salt tal city a few weeks ago to visit tal c e diat few weeks ago ag 0 o to visit I 1 i daughter and was taken ill while there she was 86 years old A number of relatives and friends from monticello and bland it tended the funeral services which were held in moab on sunday afternoon among them were the following mr and mrs C CL L christensen mrs W B hyde mrs charles burr mr and mrs rome bailey mr and mrs wilford christensen mrs lucinda redd mr and mrs claude young and mrs jennie beeson all of monticello the funeral services were held in the church with bp mcconkie in charge among the speakers were charles redd of la sal and mrs lucinda redd of monticello mrs christensen was born in denmark on april 24 1857 and emigrated to utah with her family in july of 1872 she was married to C L christensen in salt lake in 1879 going to brigham city arizona where mr christensen was serving as an indian missionary sio nary the family moved back to utah in 1888 and in 1891 settled in bluff later coming to monticello where they resided until about 1920 when they moved to moab mr christensen died about three years ago at the home of his daughter mrs W B hyde five daughters and two sons survive grandma christensen ahn stensen as she was affectionately called during her long life of service among relatives and friends who mourn her passing |
