Professor Brooke went for a swim, and, in entering the water, dived from a springboard. He failed to reappear re-appear upon the surface and an immediate immedi-ate search was made for his body. When taken from tha water Professor Brooke was unconscious and remained in that condition until death came a fr-w minutes min-utes later. Dr. F. O. Reynolds, who examined ex-amined the body, expressed the opinion that heart failure was the cause of death. Professor Brooke was born in Plymouth. Ind.. in and in 1000 came to Salt Lake with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ed S. Brooke. He attended the puolic : schools of the city and was graduated from the hih school. He then attended the Armour Institute at Chicago for two years and spent f ive years at the Yale technical school. During his connection with the Utah Agricultural college Professor- Brooke also j had taken a prominent part in athletics and was one of the most popular members mem-bers of the faculty. Regarding the belief that heart failure ' was the cause of Professor Brooke's 1 death, his father, who is secretary of the ' Scott Hardware company and agent of the Scott building, said last night that he was of the same opinion. His son once fainted while In a dentist's chair, Mr. Brooke said further that the young man had been overexerting himself at the college for sonu time past in preparing for the strenuous work ahead. The body of the young educator will be brought to Salt Lake today and funeral fu-neral announcements will be made later, tn addition to his parents. Professor Brooke is survived by one brother, Lloyd V. Brooke, an attorney at Pasadena. CaJ. |
