Show COLONEL TROMBO IN SERIOUS CONDITION In response to a message from San Francisco, announcing that Col. Isaac Trumho was in a serious condition, as the result of a fall, which caused concussion con-cussion of the brain, Edward McGurrin and wife left Salt Lake for the Golden Gato city last night. About a week ago Colonel Trumbo suffered a fall and was so severely Injured that he was taken to the emergency hospital for treatment-At treatment-At first It was not supposed that his In-Jury In-Jury was serious, but later It appeared that his condition was critical and bis relatives were notified. Mrs. McGurrin is Colonel Trumbo's sister. Salt Lake people who knew and admired ad-mired Colonel Trumbo In his days of affluence, af-fluence, when he occupied the Gardo house in this city, and was a candidate for United States senator Just after the admission of Utah to the union, will regret re-gret to learn of his misfortune. At one time Colonel Trumbo occupied a mansion In one of the aristocratic neighborhoods of San Francisco and his art gallery was said to be the finest In the entire west. Reverses overtook him. however, and for months ho lived alone In his mansion, with his priceless pictures, pic-tures, his only companion being an aged negro who had been in his employ for years and who refused to desert him In tho hour of his extremity. Later, mortgages were foreclosed on the colonel's homo and his pictures, many of them "old masters." wcro sold for a song. Ills distress, however, has been greatly alleviated by relatives and friends. |
