Bingham has a wife-heat- and a new brass band. Ogden has a poet who can write ''poetry" on any subject. The Provo Euquirtr is still arguing the tariff question. The Provo city council has enacted that old. time municipal iniquity known as the occupation tux. The Park City home dramatic club has de-clared a dividend. A Weber county man has two fads poli-ties and divorce suits. Park City will soon organize a strong sil-ver club. Let the other camps follow the example. For some unknown reason a weekly newspaper is going to be started at Ameri-can Fork. The Corinne CaKopt is one of those good, d newspapers which speak of "ye editor." The Mt. Pleasant brass band has received new suits with gold braid and silver capu-lets- . Editor Boyden of the Pyramid is said to be "out of sight" in his new uniform. The MeoorsJ says a quack doctor by the name of Carpenter tried to "do up" the citizens of Park C'it3r last week. The doc-tor left town one night after sundown and he lias not been heard of since. The Kansas men at the cattlemen's con-vention introduced a resolution of thanks j to the citizens of Ogdeii for the hospitable treatment accorded the convention. A Kan-sas man never misses an opportunity of getting his name in .t.h.e newspapers. TELECRAPHIC SUMMARY- - The house yesterday passed the free bind-ing twine bill. The fair for the benefit of the actor's fnud opened in New York last night. May day was ushered into the old world with broken heads and bloody nostrils. After a spirited fight the British captured Tonatabia, on the west coast of Africa. A ton of dynamite was stolen from the Greek magazines on the island of Corfu. Pocahontas Center, Iowa, has a coal fam-ine. Sidewalks are being utilized as fuel. A Spanish sailing vessel was looted of! the coast of Morocco by pirates while becalmed. Baron Fava, Italian minister to the United States, has started on his way to Washing-ton. Commissioner Carter of the general land oHice will resign about the end of the fiscal year. The treasury department yesterday pur-chased 313,000 ounces of silver at $0.S7l(e O.M74. Locust are ravaging South Africa. A 6warin six miles wide passed over that coun-try yesterday. Bogardus yesterday won the nitreon shoot between himself and George Koxvoat, kill-ing 38 out of 50 birds. The English government has received no official intelligence of an outbreak in Venez-uela. Two warship, however, have been ordered to La Guayfa. The man who caused the bomb explosion near the Guise barracks, Paris, Sunday, and was almost fatally injured by ihe explosion, is a wealthy grocer, well known as a pious royalist. John Miller, a poor Bavarian, was fol-lowed to the grave by bad luck, the horses attached to the hearse in which was his body running away yesterday in Chicago. The vehicle was overturned, the coffin burst and Miller was thrown into the street. Marshal' Sale. The Weather Unfavorable for Prospecting The Silver Question Too Much Gold in Wall Street Notes. Mr. Matt Lyon, the well known miniiiir man and prospector, has just returned from a s prospecting trip through the Deep Creek country, and is enthusiastic over the outlook there. He states that men are flocking in there from alt over the mining region, and predicts the biggest kind of a boom there this year, as well as the greatest mining camp in the western country; Mr. Lyon states that the latest excitement is along the eastern slope of the Deep Creek rantfo, west of Willow Spriujrs, where as-says from hand samples have run from $"-J-6 to ;i00 per ton. Mr. Lyon himself located nine claims, the assays of which go from 72 to 36T ounces silver and 40 per cent lead. All of the claims in the new district, lie suys, are showing up finely, and the entire range ap-pears to be a solid mineral belt. Altogether about 150 claims have been located there in the lust two months. Be says that Grant V Chapman's "Lion" showed three feet of ore when he left. Frank Little and Biig YounjJ arrived on the scene a few weeks ago, and are v ell and hearty and delighted wiih the prospect. Mr. Lyon states that the weather has been miserable during the past two months, and has hindered the prospectors considerably. He will return to the camp this week. ' The Sllvnr Question. Leopold Baunigarten has just returned from an extended trip east, and during his elay in New York and Washington lie took au active part in the tight for silver. He Bpeaka in the highest terms of the efforts made by Col. Isaac Trumho, formerly of this city, and says that gentleman's speech in favor of free silver before the senate com mittee Was tint finest address he ever listeneil to 011 the subject. "Wall street is too stroug for us just Dow,'' said Mr. Baunigarten. ''There is too much gold held up there, but wc are going to win just the same." liipa mil Spurn. Another strike is reported in the Dalton. Yesterday 100 shares of Daly changed hands at $30. It it said that the Nabot company has an offer of 946,000 for its property.
