James Conway, the proprietor of the Cremeri restaurant, on Second South street, and Mrs. Sage, who were arrested a few days ago on the charge of obtaining money under false pretenses, are still in custody, and Sheriff Burt today received a dispatch from Denver, stating that Deputy Sheriff Arnett would arrive here tomorrow morning with requisition papers for the parties. Under the heading, "A Cashier's Bride," the Denver Den-ver Ntws of Monday, says:' "Love was blended in the sudden and mysterious mys-terious disappearance of Mrs. Sage of 'Jim's restaurant,' an account of whose disappointment disappoint-ment of her creditors appeared in yesterday's yester-day's JTews. "Where is Jim Conway, the handsome manager?" was the question asked yesterday yester-day morning by some of Conway's friends. Had he eloped with his fair employer? It was discovered last night that he had. The attachments served on Mrs. Sage's place of business amounted to about $'.3,100, but this does not include all the debts unpaid. un-paid. The B. & M. As Mrs. Sage's disappearance was reported to the sheriff, Do Lue sent out telegrams iu every direction for the apprehension, of the flying caterer and Conway if he happened to be with her. One of-those reached Sheriff Audy Burt in Salt Lake, and he found the guilty couple as the' were passing through the limits of his jurisdiction. He placed them under arrest and wired De Lue of the capture. Today deputy Arnett will be Eent to bring them back on warrants for false pretenses and fraud. Jim Conway is well known in Denver, and was dragged into sporting prominence by getting up a prize-fight between two "dubs." It is needless to say that some of the wiser heads got all the money there was in it, and the unfortunates who paid $2 apiece saw two men fight with pillows. ROGERS AND CLARK DISCHARGED. The examination of J. P. Rogers and Wm. Clark of the Twenty-first ward, on the charge of stealing a wagon belonging belong-ing to Will Price, was held before Commissioner Oreemnan today. The testimony showed that the men took the wagon, but it also appeared that tbey had previously negotiated for the use of it, and took it away under a misapprehension. They wore discharged. USING IRRIGATING WATER ILLEGALLY. Deputy Marshal Will Goodsell this morning morn-ing arrested Hans Hansen of Graaget for using irrigating water illegally. The examination of James Austin, charged with assault with intent to kill, the offense consisting of shooting his son in the leg, was the feature of police court this afternoon. after-noon. J. G. West testified that he saw Young Austin pursuing his father with a club prior to the shot. The old man was running and had his hands over his head. This difficulty ended for a time and witness thought it was all over, when he saw Mr. Austin come round the house with a shotgun 'and raise it and fire. When the police came, Austin extracted the shells and gave up the gun. The witness telephoned for thc police. He did not see young Austin make any demonstrations. demon-strations.
