PUGSLEY, Attor (4-- 5 4-2- New Attractions for Upcoming Season A new haunted Blind High School Sophomore ride called Draculas Castle and a new 60 foot high Sky Ride are two of the many new attractions at Lagoon, the Farmington resort that opens this week end, April 6 and 7. Robert E. Freed, Lagoon general manager, said the 1974 summer season will mark the parks 79th year of family fun. Those who enjoy the unusual and mysterious will welcome Lagoons third haunted feature of fun, Draculas Castle. Like the Haunted Shack and the Terrorride it has monsters and demons, but the new 800 foot ride also features a psycadelic corridor with strobe lights and fluorescent displays and special water effects including caverns, caves, water curtains and simulated waterfalls. The $125,000 ride is located at the main midway entrance near the Penny Arcade. The Sky Ride, which is some what like a ski lift, stretches the entire length of the fun way from Opera House Square on the north to the southern ride area. It lifts riders high above Lagoons funway and shaded picnic terraces giving a panoramic view of the great Salt Lake and Wasatch Mountains. Small children will enjoy feeding the deer at Lagoons new deer farm. Located at the south Utah's Handicapped Teenager Nolan Crabb of North Ogden, summer together with an inUtah, will be honored as Utahs structor from the School for the Handicapped Teenager at the Blind in devising the best route annual Awards Meeting of the and method for him to get from Governors Committee on Em- class to class in the allotted time. Nolan attends Weber High School, where he has a 3.9 grade point average. Nolan believes that one of the major factors to a blind persons success in a public school with sighted students is independence. To achieve this as much as possible at Weber High he spent part of each day last end of the funway near Lagoon Lake the miniature farm features over 20 small mule deer. A crew of 50 workmen at the Farmington resort have been busy preparing one of Americas great amusement parks for a 79th season thats bigger and better than ever. ting, and then brings them home and types them on a regular machine so that the teacher can read and correct the papers along with the rest of the students papers. His extra curricular activities include debate club, creative writing and public speaking. One of Nolans goals is to continue his education through college, with a major in journalism. Many people have asked him what he thinks a blind persons position should be when they are compared with the sighted. His typical answer and favorite saying is: A blind person must strive to do better than his sighted counterpart at whatever he wishes to become. He must establish his goals just a bit higher in order to make it successfully in life. His family resides at 967 East 2800 North in North Ogden, Utah.
